Yi Jing Harmony

Every line of DAO DAO's contract code that says DAO becomes one token. A small, public rulebook reads what the line is about and turns that into odds over the 64 hexagrams of the Yi Jing. A three-round tournament then picks the hexagram, coarse to fine, and anyone can re-run it and get the same answer.

How a line becomes a hexagram

1. Find the line. dao-harmony scans the DAO DAO code and lists every line that contains DAO. Each distinct line is one token: 1,426 of them, tests included.
2. Read what it is about. A public word list (the lexicon) spots ideas in the line, its function name and its file: voting, proposals, treasury, pausing, and so on.
3. Turn ideas into odds. Each hexagram is tied to a few of those ideas, so the line gets odds for all 64. A line about voting power leans to 34, Great Invigorating.
4. Round 1: trigrams. The bottom half and the top half of the hexagram are each picked by an 8-way bracket of trigrams (heaven, lake, fire, thunder, wind, water, mountain, earth).
5. Round 2: hexagram. The two finalists from each bracket make four hexagrams. A last bracket picks the one.
6. Round 3: changing lines. Each of the six lines is challenged by the hexagram you get if it flips. Strong challengers can make it change, which gives the second, relating hexagram the art moves into.
7. Fair, and checkable. Every match has its own coin, made from the commit, the file and the line. A weak candidate never gets a lucky draw: it loses by walkover. When nothing is known, the odds are exactly the old yarrow-stalk odds.
